munch is a small, owner-run cafe tucked inside the nursery – dappled light, potted ferns, and the kind of breakfast you linger over. No rush. No queue tickets. Just real food on real plates.
We took a quiet corner of Stodels nursery and filled it with the food we wanted to eat ourselves, great coffee, generous meals, and the kind of welcome you only get from a place that knows your name.
15 years in and our ethos hasn’t changed – we still bake the bread, slice the avocados ourselves, and keep an eye on the door for regulars. Tables fill up to the rhythm of the nursery: garden-shoppers, walking groups, parents on the slow side of school drop-off.
What’s grown is the menu. The garden seating. The dogs at the gate. But the core of munch – owner in the kitchen, food made fresh to order, no shortcuts – those have stayed put.
The menu stays pretty consistent – these are the dishes we’ve made our own over time. Every now and then the chef gets an idea and runs with it, so keep an eye out for the odd special.

munch sits inside Stodels Bryanston – its own quiet corner of the nursery, with leafy outdoor seating, room to breathe, and the kind of calm you don’t usually get with a toddler in tow. Easy on parents. Easy on pet. Wifi that actually works.
A peaceful space – built around shaded outdoor seating, a spacious play area for the small ones, water bowls for the dogs, and free, fast wifi for the parent who slipped out for “just a coffee” and ended up answering email for an hour. Nobody minds.

Our take on the afternoon ritual — relaxed, a little indulgent, no white gloves required. A pot of something good, a stand of eats and treats, and freshly squeezed juice if the mood takes you. Perfect for catch-ups, birthdays, or a slow weekend afternoon with your favourite people. Every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 4pm — or weekdays by booking only.
The same fresh food we make in the cafe, packed up and driven to your office, your living room, or the back of someone’s garden. We do small, considered catering – the way we cook everything else.
Pre-packed home meals — made fresh in our kitchen the same morning, ready for you to collect on the way home or have delivered to your door. Real food, properly cooked, in containers that go straight to the oven.
No takeaway boxes pretending to be dinner. Just a proper meal, packed up and waiting.
Beef shin braised with red wine and rosemary, topped with buttery mash and a crisp parmesan crust.
Whole free-range bird, lemon & herb, with crisp potatoes, roasted carrots and a jug of pan gravy.
Roasted aubergine, courgette, spinach and ricotta, layered with béchamel and a slow-cooked tomato.
Mild, fragrant, slow-simmered. Served with basmati rice, sambals and a warm roti on the side.
Roasted with sage and brown butter, blended smooth. Comes with a sourdough heel and salted butter.
Six-hour ragu, a tub of fresh pappardelle, a wedge of parmesan and basil. Boil, plate, eat.

We’re inside Stodels Bryanston — drive in through the main gate and the cafe is sign-posted from the entrance. Parking is free, the dogs get water, the kids head straight for the play area, and there’s almost always a table on the terrace if you wander in before 9.
